In January 2015 OPL joined a consortium of organisations to respond to the Cabinet Office invitation to tender for the delivery of a customised programme of leadership development to over 300 government staff each year for the next 5 years. This development programme, called the Project Leadership Programme (PLP), is for senior civil servants responsible for major government projects. The Cabinet Office's infrastructure projects alone account for £466 billion of planned expenditure, so the competence and capability development of staff in these senior civil service roles is imperative.

Aspirin for Appraisals (or Paracetamol for Performance Reviews!)

Aspirin for Appraisals (or Paracetamol for Performance Reviews!) It’s amazing how many organisations suffer from headaches with their appraisals/reviews at this time of year. Typical Symptoms How many times do you hear “X tells me they’ve started their staff appraisals, but it’s been weeks now and I’ve seen nothing”, or “I asked for some training on my development plan but that was months ago and nothing has happened!” or even “how many people have we got who need Health and Safety training in the next 3 months?”

Summer on the South Coast

Project Professional’s Academy Successfully Launched

In March 2011 the Project Professional’s Academy was launched to a sell-out audience in London. Academy Director Paul Erricker explained to the assembled audience, who represented many influential companies in the sphere of project management, how he had helped the Association for Project Management (APM) to design and launch its new Registered Project Professional (RPP) accreditation. Paul and Academy colleague Lara Taylorson were amongst the first to obtain the new RPP standard and have been busy training assessors for the APM during 2010 for the launch in spring 2011. After 18 months of work as project manager for the new standard, Paul is now released from his work with the APM, so it was time to begin to tell people what his plans for the Academy were all about.

The finished results will be played back to the stakeholder group at the end of November.
